The Prime Minister of Tuvalu appointed Ambassador Nair, who has been his Special Advisor, as Tuvalu’s Envoy to The Commonwealth Heads of Govt.Meeting (CHOGM).
This year CHOGM is being held in Ruanda in June and Sir. Italeli Iakoba, Tuvalu’s formerGovernor General is one of the two candidates challenging the incumbent Secretary General Baroness Patricia Scotland, for the privilege of leading the Commonwealth Secretariat.
A high power team from Funafuti comprising The Hon.Simon Kofe, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Telecoms and Sir Italeli Iakoba, were accompanied by Ambassador Shiv Shanker Nair on a round of meetings with British Ministers and FCDO teams.
The delegation called upon The Hon.Lord Goldsmith, Minister for the Pacific and on JoLomas The UK Envoy to The Commonwealth.
